Kerf & Fit Calculator

The laser beam has width - it removes a strip of material called kerf, so cut parts come out slightly off their drawn size. Measure your kerf once, then let these tools compensate every cut. Exact geometry, nothing leaves your browser.

1 · Measure your kerf

Cut a slot at a known width, measure the real opening with calipers.

Kerf = measured − drawn. Half-kerf is the beam offset on each side. Typical diode: 0.08–0.20 mm; CO2: 0.10–0.30 mm.

2 · Compensate a size

Outside cuts come out smaller, inside cuts come out bigger. Draw the compensated size so the finished piece lands on target.

3 · Finger-joint tabs

Uses an odd number of fingers so opposite edges interlock (male/female mirror). Actual tab width is the edge divided evenly.
